Overview

The Joint Managerial Body Interview Competencies Model for the Recruitment of Principals and Deputy Principals will take place in September and October 2022.

In December 2021 the Department of Education issued Circular 0062/2021 which introduced an appeal system for permanent Principal and Deputy Principal appointments.  In cooperation with the APTCS, a full review of the JMB documentation has taken place in light of this new appeal process.  

Now, more than ever, it is vitally important that members of Selection Committees have received training to Increase the likelihood of getting the “best fit” for their school through an objective, evidenced-based, transparent process. Training should also reduce the risk of a successful appeal and/or the risk of claims of discrimination, through either direct or indirect discrimination.

Who should attend

Chairpersons, Principals and nominees of the Board of Management who have never completed the training before and who are likely to serve on Selection Committees for the appointment of a Principal or Deputy Principal.

These seminars tend to be oversubscribed and so it is important that they are reserved for first time participants only.

Participants must be nominated by a Board of Management in order to attend the training.

The objective is to support schools in the quest to appoint the best possible candidate for senior leadership posts.

Cost

€100 per participant
