An overview of DES CL 0024/2015 with regard to Fixed-term Contracts and the eligibility criteria for the sanctioning of DES paid CIDs presented by Christine West and Bernadette Kinsella, JMB.

Training programme

The JMB is hosting a series of practical workshops which will address the following:

  • DES CL 0024/2015 – The Ward Report
  • First Year Fixed-term Contracts
  • Termination of Year 1 Fixed-term Contracts
  • Year 2 Fixed-term Contracts
  • Viable posts
  • What is temporary cover?
  • Mixed contracts e.g. job-share and special needs 
  • Offer of employment in excess of two years
  • Eligibility criteria for a CID
  • Hours of a CID
  • H22 Form
  • DES CL 0049/2017 – Revised procedure and sequence for filling available teacher posts/hours
  • Case Scenarios 
  • Adjudication Process

Participants may find it beneficial to bring their own laptop to work through a contract of employment.

All attendees must register on-line prior to attending training/events.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available fifteen minutes before the commencement of each workshop.

Who schould attend?

The workshops will be of particular benefit to school principals, deputy principals and any member of a board of management who has responsibility for preparing and issuing contracts in accordance with DES CL 0024/2015.

In particular, newly appointed principals and deputy principals should note that this topic will not be covered at the Newly Appointed Principals and Deputy Principals Training Programme in June 2019. 

A maximum of two attendees per school is requested so as to facilitate greater representation and engagement. 

Workshops spaces are limited.
A registration fee is required to secure a place on the workshop.
