Competency-Based Recruitment and Selection of Senior School Leaders FULL COURSE

Competency-Based Recruitment and Selection of Senior School Leaders

FULL COURSE

The JMB will deliver a training module on Competency-Based Recruitment and Selection of Senior School Leaders (Principal/Deputy Principal).  This interactive session will explore all aspects of the recruitment process from the initial advertisement to the job offer.  Attendees will have an opportunity to understand the recruitment process and to develop questions which assess the specific competencies outlined in Circular 03/2018.

Now, more than ever, it is vitally important that members of Selection Committees have received training to increase the likelihood of getting the “best fit” for their school through an objective, evidenced-based, transparent process. Training should also reduce the risk of a successful appeal and/or the risk of claims of discrimination, through either direct or indirect discrimination.

Participants must be nominated by the Board of Management in order to attend the training.

Who should attend? Chairpersons, Principals and nominees of the Board of Management who are likely to serve on Selection Committees for the appointment of Senior School Leaders are invited to attend.

Who should not attend? This course is not aimed at Deputy Principals or teacher nominees on Boards as they are highly unlikely to lead Selection Committees for the appointment of a Principal or Deputy Principal. If you have participated in the full course previously, you should attend the “Refresher & Updates Course”, scheduled for the day after this full course.

The objective is to support schools in the quest to appoint the best possible candidate for senior leadership posts.

Participants who engage in this training will be identified as a resource for Selection Committees.
