Overview

This half-day session will cover the appointment of a post holder, from commencement of the process by the Board of Management to providing feedback to applicants.

It is critical to the success of the interview process, to get the process right and to minimise the possibility of appeals, that all members of the Interview Board including school principals have undertaken this training. This module is different and separate to the interview competency training for principal and deputy principal appointments.

The objective of this training is to equip interviewers with the necessary skills to conduct competency-based interviews for middle leadership and management posts, and to ensure full compliance with Circular 0003/2018 in recruiting the best candidates.

Who should attend?

It is for New Principals, Independent Chairpersons and other interviewers who were unable to attend this training module held recently August/September. It is also for other Principals who did not attend this training in the last school year. 

It is not for teachers who are likely to apply for a post nor those who previously attended this training session. If it is anticipated that a current deputy principal may have to act up for a principal who is due to be absent, then s/he should attend.
