In the Government Budget for 2012, it was announced that there would be a “2% reduction in capitation and related grants”. Even though all per capita grants are theoretically reduced by 2%, the full impact of the reduction is to be applied to the Capitation grant only. Accordingly, the Capitation Grant is reduced from €328 to €317, a reduction of 3.35%. In addition, the Department of Education and Skills has informed us that from the current school year the deduction from Capitation for the school salary cost will be based on total number of Permanent Wholetime Teachers (PWTs) and fulltime (22 hour) CIDs.
