Financial Support Services Unit (FSSU)

The FSSU was set up under the Department of Education and Science Circular M36/05 to enable schools to comply with the Education Act 1998. The FSSU is primarily a support mechanism for voluntary secondary schools in terms of accountability, transparency and financial responsibility for State funds.

This guideline deals with changes which were introduced in the Finance Act 2011 and which became legally binding from January 1st 2012.The Department of Education and Skills Building Unit has indicated that the changes outlined in the guideline will be posted on www.education.ie. Schools involved in a building project are advised to contact their local Revenue office before proceeding to tender.
