The JMB Financial Support Services Unit (FSSU) was set up under the Department of Education and Science Circular M36/05 to enable schools to comply with the Education Act 1998. The FSSU is primarily a support mechanism for voluntary secondary schools in terms of accountability, transparency and financial responsibility for State funds.

Local Property Tax-Obligations on Employers
Financial Guideline 11 outlines the obligations on schools as employers in relation to the direct deduction of the Local Property Tax (LPT) charge from the salaries of privately paid employees who opt to pay the tax by this method. Where an employee opts to pay LPT in this way, employers have a legal obligation to facilitate it from July 1, 2013.
